The “GO-ANYWHERE, DO-ANYTHING” Programmable Robot
RVR+ is Sphero’s revolutionary take on the programmable robot and is optimised for KS3 and KS4 classrooms as well as STEM, Computing and Robotics clubs. RVR+ is drivable right out of the box (no assembly or complicated setup needed), packed with a diverse suite of sensors, built for customisation, expandable, and made for programmers of all abilities.
“There are so many opportunities for RVR+ to highlight the creativity and STEM-centered skills that are extremely relevant to today’s students. We can’t wait to see what students create with RVR+ in the classroom.”
Versatile and Customisable!
RVR+ is so versatile that it’s simple enough for even the most novice programmers, but challenging and open-ended enough to create anything the most imaginative minds can create. The included customisable expansion plate allows students to connect most third-party hardware, including Raspberry Pi, Arduino, micro:bit, and Sphero littleBits.
Programme RVR+ in 4 different ways!
Using the free Sphero Edu app, understand the movement of RVR+ using ‘Draw’, develop your computing skills and start to use RVR+ to it’s full potential with Scratch-style ‘Blocks’, or develop your advanced coding by using either JavaScript or Python, using the public Sphero SDK and API libraries for more advanced hackers and makers as well as connecting to third party hardware.
Teach and learn across the STE(A)M Spectrum!
RVR+ is packed with on-board sensors, including a light sensor, infrared (IR) sensor, accelerometer, a gyroscope, as well as an enhanced colour sensor that allows for increased execution accuracy in programming RVR+ to see colours in its environment.
Loved by Educators!
Explore downloadable guides, cross-curricular activities, and standards-aligned lessons on the newly launched and constantly updated Sphero Central! The RVR+ Educator Guide, included with the Class Kit, contains tips for successful rollout of RVR+ in your classroom as well as activities.
Keep Powered Up!
RVR+ also features increased battery life with an improved rechargeable and swappable battery to keep programs, inventions, and classroom projects running with no downtime.
Engineered for Power!
RVR+’s gearbox has been redesigned to improve torque, payload capacity (up to 1 kilogram), and durability allowing students to take their inventions even further.
We are so excited to introduce Sphero’s RVR+ and to help you and your educational setting to explore testing its sensors, expanding its capabilities by connecting development boards, and taking it where no robot has gone before!
Sphero packed the RVR+ with a variety of sensors (colour sensor, light sensor, IR, accelerometer, gyroscope), as well as perfecting the all-terrain tread to investigate all of the places they could take RVR+.
However, the main reason why Oxford Educational Robotics are so thrilled to bring Sphero’s RVR+ into our range is the expandability and adaptability of this educational robot!
RVR+ features a 4-pin UART and an onboard power source, allowing students to connect and run third-party hardware such as a Raspberry Pi, Arduino, BBC micro:bit, or Sphero's very own littleBits Topper Kit.
Sphero’s RVR+ littleBits Topper Kit is an easy and approachable kit that allows you to fully utilise RVR+’s onboard capabilities with littleBits adaptability to create your own inventions. Our goal is to give you the tools and support you need to empower learners in any environment to create, experiment, and become critical problem solvers through play-based learning and project-based lessons.
littleBits introduces foundational STEAM skills — such as creativity, problem solving, and engineering design — through screen-free, engaging electronic building blocks called Bits. With differently coloured Bits for power, input, and output, students of all skill levels will intuitively grasp circuit basics while using the engineering design process to create their own inventions.
Using RVR+’s onboard power source, learners can program RVR+’s infrared sensors to interact with the littleBits IR remote trigger to create mazes, gates and a wide variety of other inventions!
